Plenty Of Family Fun Planned For Independence Day

July 3 event at Paulus Park to include numerous food vendors, kids' activities, two bands and a boat parade, topped off by fireworks at dusk.

Bring your family and meet your friends to enjoy a fun-filled day at during the 2011 Independence Day celebration.

DJ 39 and Holding will begin to spin tunes when the park opens at 9 a.m. to supply a festive mood as attendees set up blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy the day.

Taste of Summer kicks off at 11 a.m., where you can get a sampling of fare from a number of local food vendors, including: Ania’s Polish Deli, , Smokin T’s Bar-B-Que of Long Grove, Sergio’s Mexican Grill, Siri Thai, Bella Luke’s and Giordano’s.

A beer and wine tent also will be available.

Popcorn Headz will provide the traditional kettle corn, and area Boy Scout troops will sell snow cones and popcorn.

Children's activities, including games and inflatable rides, will run from noon until 4 p.m.  

For anyone who wants to take a dip, the beach will be open as well for swimmers and for sunbathers alike.

One Foot in the Groove, sponsored by the Cultural Arts Connection, will perform on stage from 2:30 to 4 p.m.

Then at 7:30 p.m., Final Say, sponsored by the Alpine Runners, will take the stage to put on their show, which will end at 9 p.m.

The annual boat parade, where owners of lake property decorate their boats and circle around Lake Zurich, will commence at 8 p.m.

The Independence Day fireworks will finish the night off with a bang, starting at approximately 9:15 p.m. or dusk. The fireworks will be set to music.

The cost to attend for residents and beach pass holders is $2 for adults ages 18 and older. A valid driver’s license or identification card are required. Residents and pass holders ages 17 and under can attend for free.

The cost for nonresidents ages 4 and up is $7. Children 3 and younger are admitted free.
