Mike Stickler, Neighbor

Hi, I'm Mike. I am a freelance writer and baseball coach who retired from 20 years public school teaching in 2009. I have been a resident of Grayslake since 1992. My wife of 24 years, Linda, teaches 7th grade Social Studies in Highland Park and my son, Alex, is a freshman at Grayslake Central High School.

I also attended Grayslake High School from 1966-1968. We have two cats Harvey & Cricket who take infinite pleasure in being waited on hand and foot by everyone in the family. My two passions are coaching/teaching baseball and music (both listening & playing). I love to read and write whenever I can.

The small town community feel of Grayslake is something I cherish and love to brag about. The idea of writing for an online newspaper to cover local events, talk with local people and promote local businesses<br>was an irresistible draw for me. I am so looking forward to extolling the virtues of Grayslake and its uniqueness for Patch.com.
