    Long Grove Apple Fest Friday, Sept. 28 through Sunday, Sept. 30, Village of Long Grove Visitors are invited to explore the many delicious ways to enjoy fall’s favorite fruit–from live music and entertainment to apple pies, apple cider donuts, caramel apple lattes, apple martinis, and more. Local restaurants and specialty shops will carry a wide range of apple-inspired treats, while local farmers will have baskets full of a variety of tree-ripened apples. Musical acts including folk, bluegrass, country, rock, and jazz, will entertain crowds at stages centered around Fountain Square, The Covered Bridge and Towner Green through the three-day weekend in downtown Long Grove. Huge disappointment. Hardly any street vendors so you are paying $5 to go to all the stores you can go to for free any other day. You would think apple pies would be everywhere, only the long grove confectioner had pies and they sell them every day.   more ›

Get Out for Farm Heritage Festival, Alpine Races

Plenty of fall, fun events nearby this weekend.

Farm Heritage Festival Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 22 and Sept. 23, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Lakewood Forest Preserve, Wauconda Check out over 200 antique tractors, cars and steam engines, and other farm machinery at the 20th Annual Farm Heritage Festival. This two-day event celebrates farm life from the turn of the century to the present.  The event features a daily tractor parade starting at 1:30 p.m., and a petting zoo, open daily from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Other activities include sheep herding demonstrations, live music, scarecrow making, wagon and barrel train rides and other children’s activities. Barrington's First Summerfest to be Held This Weekend

McGonigal's Pub is hosting the summer festival kicking off on July 27.

Area residents looking for some summer fun don’t have to go far this weekend. Sponsored by McGonigal’s Pub, the first Barrington Summerfest is taking place Friday, July 27 and Saturday, July 28, 2012.
