Trustee Sustich Quells Rumor

Outgoing Lake Zurich village board trustee clears the air and comments on his years of service.

Outgoing Trustee Rich Sustich said there are no plans for him to become the next Lake Zurich village manager at Monday's village board meeting. "I'd like to quell a rumor that’s been going around for the last three months and allow Manager Slowinski to breath easier. Mayor Poynton does not nor did he ever have plans to appoint me village manager once he's elected. I have no plans to ask for it or accept it," Sustich said.  Sustich added that he has every confidence that Jason Slowinski is the right person for the village manager position.  Sustich also pointed to progress made in the past four years and challenged the new board to move forward.  "We made significant advances over the past four years, but Lake Zurich remains a work in …

Actually, the rumor came out of the Branding camp. The point was not to focus on who started it, but to ensure the public that Jason ain't going anywhere. Letter to the Editor: Let’s Get Lake Zurich “Poynton” in the Right Direction

Rich Sustich endorses Tom Poynton, independent candidates.

He took the lead in encouraging the annexation deal, paving the way for LZ to attract Mariano’s after Mayor Branding and village administration twice dropped the ball; a failure that …

Sustich Aims for Sustainable Budget in Remaining Months as Lake Zurich Trustee

Rich Sustich will not run for re-election in April; supports Tom Poynton for village president.

Trustee Rich Sustich will not seek re-election to the Lake Zurich village board in April. Sustich said he decided not to run for very personal and family reasons. “I consider to be a good trustee is almost a full-time job in order to understand what is going on in the village,” Sustich said. “A lot of people have the impression that you just show up on Monday and vote on things. (Tom) Poynton and I were there during the day talking to staff and looking at issues,” he said. Sustich said he will be supporting Poynton’s bid as an independent for village president. Poynton faces current Village President Suzanne Branding and independent candidate Mary Black. “We need somebody who will lead from the center. We need the village president as not …

What I would love to see Rich do is head up a Downtown Neighborhood Association, charged with the revitalization of and promotion the downtown area. We need an organization that is charged with doing nothing but focusing on the downtown area.   more ›
