Postal Service To Keep Saturday Mail Delivery

United States Postal Service reversed its decision to end standard mail delivery on Saturdays.

  The United States Postal Service has backed off a plan to stop Saturday mail delivery, citing lack of cooperation from Congress, ABC News reports.  The USPS Board of Governors said restrictive language prevents it from going ahead with the plan to eliminate Saturday delivery of mail by Aug. 1, according to a USPS statement. "The Board continues to support the transition to a new national delivery schedule. Such a transition will generate approximately $2 billion in annual cost savings and is a necessary part of a larger five-year business plan to restore the Postal Service to long-term financial stability," according to the USPS statement.  In February, USPS said its current business model of delivery mail six days a week is no longer …

Saturday Mail Delivery to End, Postal Service Announces

The U.S. Postal Service announced it will end Saturday mail delivery by Aug. 1. Speak out: How will this affect you?

  Calling the six-days-per-week mail delivery business model “no longer sustainable,” the U.S. Postal Service Wednesday morning announced it will eliminate Saturday delivery of mail by Aug. 1. The plan to change delivery from six days a week to five would only affect first-class mail. Packages, mail-order medicines, priority and express mail would still be delivered on Saturdays. The Lake Zurich Post Office located at 25 Telser Road will remain open on Saturdays. Saturday hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.  According to the U.S. Postal Service, the reasons are continued economic struggles and the increasing use of the Internet for communications and bill paying by consumers. It's a business like anything else! They have the choice to cut back or raise prices. I still think USPS is a great deal! How else could you get anything anywhere in the entire United States for only 45 cents? If they have to do this to make ends meet, then I think we all need to respect that!   more ›

Post Office Prices Increase

The cost to mail one ounce letter and postcards has increased starting today.

Prices at the post office are higher than ever.  Beginning today, the cost to mail a one ounce letter has increased to 46 cents a stamp. That’s up from 45 cents in 2012. Mailing a postcard also costs one penny more at 33 cents. The same increase was imposed in 2012. Post Office Prices to Increase in 2013

It will cost more to mail postcards and one ounce letters come Jan. 27, 2013.

Get ready to pay more at the post office next year. The cost to mail a one ounce letter will increase to 46 cents a stamp on Jan. 27. That’s up from 45 cents in 2012. Mailing a postcard will also cost one penny more at 33 cents. The same increase was imposed in 2012. New Domestic pricing for Priority Mail Flat Rate products are as follows: If you want to save a few bucks mailing one ounce letters, stock up on Forever stamps now. They can be used anytime in the future regardless of price increases at the post office. .
