Lake Zurich grad Charley Dever, now a Spartan, gets assist for bringing game home.
Lake Zurich High School will host a men’s lacrosse game between the University of Illinois and Michigan State University, March 17, thanks in part to a former Bear who now roams midfield for the Spartans. “It’s not often we get to see collegiate-level lacrosse in our own back yard, especially between schools as popular here as Illinois and Michigan State,” said Dave Kintzer, Lake Zurich Lacrosse Club president. “We’ve already heard from well over a dozen other high school and youth programs that are as excited as we are about this.” The game also is noteworthy for the local flavor it brings. Lake Zurich student leads recruitment for College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences.

Kurt Hansen, of Lake Zurich, has been named to the 2013 ExplorACES Steering Committee in the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences (ACES) at the University of Illinois. Hansen is a junior in Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences. He is co-leading recruitment efforts for the event. ExplorACES, March 8-9, 2013, is a student-run open house of the College of ACES featuring exhibits, mini-classes and the opportunity for prospective students to speak with ACES faculty and students. On Friday, Dec. 7th, the University of Illinois Wind Symphony will be performing at Lake Zurich High School. The Wind Symphony is U of I’s top ensemble. Lake Zurich Bands are honored to have them come and share their music locally. The community will also welcome Lake Zurich High School Alumni Jared Cooney back to his alma mater as he is a member of the ensemble on clarinet. The concert will begin on Friday at 7:30 in Lake Zurich's Performing Arts Center. The Wind Symphony is under the direction of Robert Rumbelow, head band director at University of Illinois. Music to be performed on the concert includes Percy Grainger’s Lincolnshire Posy and Aaron Copland’s moving A Lincoln Portrait. The public is invited to attend this concert. In an …
