The Lake Zurich Bears will host Rockford Boylan today at 1 p.m., at Lake Zurich High School. The best way to watch the Bears fight it out for a chance at the IHSA 7A championship is to go to the game. However, if you can't be there, you can livestream the LZ Bears game on High School Cube. Bears hang on in thrilling 17-14 victory against Wolverines.
Simeon's quarterback Robert Gregory said after last week's victory that no team could stop his team's offense. Until tonight, that is. Lake Zurich held the Wolverines to a total of just 154 yards en route to a thrilling 17-14 victory in their 7A quarterfinal playoff game. "We just kept to our game plan and did what we've done all year," said Bears running back Jacob Brinlee, who rushed for a second-best 77 yards on 22 carries, including a touchdown. "This is just great," exclaimed quarterback Zach Till, who ran in the other Lake Zurich touchdown. "Each game gets tougher, and you're also playing away from home." Bears travel to Chicago to meet top seed Simeon.
After a tight 14-7 victory over the number 4-seeded Prospect Knights Saturday, Nov. 6, the Lake Zurich Bears will square off against the host Simeon Wolverines at 4p.m., Saturday, Nov. 13, Gately Stadium, 810 E. 103rd St., Chicago. Simeon's game on November 6, was the opposite of the Bears-Knights matchup, which featured strong defense in a low-scoring game. The Wolverines nipped the Schaumburg Saxons in a wild 55-50 shootout. Simeon junior quarterback Robert Gregory was 14-20 for 300 yards and five passing touchdowns in addition to two more rushing touchdowns, accounting for 42 of his team's 55 points. Congratulations LZ Bears, a terrific performance. Amazing attendence by LZ supporters. There were just as many LZ fans as Simeon fans at east 103 st in Chicago. First and foremost, here's hoping the LZ quarterback is healthy. He took a very hard hit. Running track with the track team has paid off. This LZ team is amazingly fast.
