Unlike last week's cold, windy game against Libertyville, the weather for tonight's homecoming game was idyllic. Unfortunately for the Bears, the final score wasn't, as they fell to the Patriots 24-23. "It was a tough loss ," said the Bear's Mike Rantis. The Patriots struck first with 2:38 left in the first quarter. After several short passes by quarterback Kevin Earl mixed in with several running plays, Anthony Bozin broke off a 37-yard run for touchdown and a 7-0 lead. The Lake Zurich Bears' homecoming game at 7:30 p.m., Friday against the Stevenson Patriots pits the top two teams in the NSC, both with 5-0 records. In their 44-22 blowout over conference rivals Libertyville last week, the Bears played their best game of the season, capped by Jacob Brinlee's record-setting 281 yards rushing. With Mike Shield's additional 114 yards, the Bears had an astounding 395 yards between their two backs.
