Martin (Marty) James Halvorsen, 77, passed away on Jan. 18, 2013 at his home in Lake Zurich with his children by his side. He was born on May 13, 1935 in Prairie View (Aptakisic Rd.) to Ralph and Anna (Weidner) Halvorsen. Marty grew up in Aptakisic and graduated from Ela Vernon High School in Lake Zurich in 1953. He worked for Meyer Material Co. as a Dispatcher for 52 years. Marty is survived by his loving family; daughter Heidi (Brian) Houlihan, son Marc Halvorsen, and daughter Holli (Kelly) Cipowski, daughter- in-law Nancy Halvorsen; brother Ralph Halvorsen; grandchildren Sean (Fiancé Sara) Halverson, Amy Halvorsen, Corey (Fiancé Hayley) Houlihan, Kevin Houlihan and Hunter Cipowski; his many nieces and nephews and other loving relatives…

Callen was an entrepreneur, and worked at CDW as vice president of finance. He was an avid hockey player at Twin Rinks in Buffalo Grove, and a past board member of William's Syndrome Association.
Daniel Callen was born on May 24, 1957 in Chicago to Frank and Dolores (nee Hadeler) Chwalinski. He died Wednesday, January 9, 2013 in Hawthorn Woods. Mr. Callen, who resided in Long Grove, recently owned his own business and previously worked as a certified public accountant for CDW, serving as Vice-President of Finance for 13 years. He was an avid hockey player and a member of Twin Rinks in Buffalo Grove. He was a past board member of William's Syndrome Association. Daniel was also a member of AICPA. Daniel is survived by his spouse of 20 years, Donna (nee Bellock) Callen; his daughters, Rebecca and Jennifer Callen; and his brothers, Thomas (Debra) and John Chwalinski. DARE officer, Lake Zurich native served department for 20 years.
Retired Lake Zurich Police Officer Kristopher Zak, 46, died unexpectedly, of natural casuses, on Dec. 14, according to a news release from the Lake Zurich Police Department. Zak was a Lake Zurich native. He lived in Crystal Lake with his wife, Connie, and was the father of two children, Ian and Ryan. “Kris was born and raised in Lake Zurich and he was very proud to be a Lake Zurich police officer. He was especially proud of his time as a DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) officer,” recalled Commander David Bradstreet of the Lake Zurich Police Department. The former Principal of St. Anne Catholic School died on Sunday, Sept. 9.
The St. Anne Catholic community is mourning the loss of Sister Ann Busch. Busch, the former Principal of St. Anne Catholic School, passed away Sunday, Sept. 9. Busch had been fighting complications and pain following a series of back surgeries. She entered Hospice care not long ago, but her death still comes as a shock to those who knew her. “She was just a fantastic woman. What a loss,” said St. Anne Principal Dawn Kapka. “It’s still without a doubt shocking and sad.” School staff issued a letter to parents regarding Busch’s passing on Sunday. “We do know that she has been in great pain since her three surgeries two months ago and that other health complications were revealed as she recovered over these last weeks.
