Two Lake Zurich football stars have signed letters of intent with colleges across the nation, the Chicago Tribune reports. Wednesday marked National Signing Day, the first day that high school seniors can sign a binding letter of intent for an NCAA football team. Squad from Portsmouth University spends time training and competing with local teams during two-week visit.
In a recent visit to the United States, the Portsmouth University women’s soccer team from England visited Cary as part of its pre-season tour. The team, which is touring with the university’s men’s squad, spent two weeks earlier this month training and playing with local teams. One of the contests they played was against Lake Zurich’s Ela Elite U23 women’s team, recent winners of the State Cup. “It’s always fun to have the opportunity to play against teams from overseas,” said Richard Drake, the Ela Elite Women’s head coach, “While we are fortunate to have many quality teams to play in the Chicagoland area, the experience of playing a team from another country is hard to match.” Comprised mostly of college players who are home during …
