Two friends covered Lake Zurich's Middle School North with kindness.
Two sixth-grade girls from Middle School North in Lake Zurich decided to do something nice. They created 800 hearts that they put on every locker of every sixth- through eighth-grade student last week. The hearts carried this simple but powerful message: "You are loved!" They also wrote about 100 letters to give one to every teacher, staff member, specials teacher and janitor at the school, thanking them for all they do. When asked why they put time and effort into this project, the girls - who wish to remain anonymous - said: "Because we like to be nice." and "We wanted to make people feel good." Wrestlers from Lake Zurich Middle School North and Middle School South are ready to battle in the state tournament March 8-9.
Junior wrestlers from Lake Zurich made it through to the Illinois Elementary School Association state tournament. The event will be held March 8-9 in the Convocation Center on the campus of Northern Illinois University in DeKalb. Boys from both Middle School North and Middle School South qualified for state after advancing through sectionals at Wauconda Middle School on March 2. Lake Zurich Middle School North band, orchestra, and chorus students participated in the annual IGSMA Solo & Ensemble Contest, on Saturday, Feb 9. This year’s contest was hosted at Deerpath Middle School in Lake Forest. Sixteen schools participated, with over 1,000 pieces being performed. When the students arrived at Deerpath Middle School, they were greeted by hundreds of other student musicians from schools in the northwest suburbs. Performances were held in classrooms with a judge, who rated students on intonation, rhythm, stage presentation, and musicianship. Three performances of You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown are planned for Nov. 15– 17 at Middle School South in Lake Zurich. Approximately 120 students comprise the cast, crew, and orchestra pit in the stage musical. Dates and times are as follows: Thursday, Nov. 15, and Friday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. (doors open at 6:30); and Saturday, Nov. 17 at 2 p.m. (doors open at 1:30). Tickets will be sold at the door for general seating, first come, first served; the cost is $10 for adults and $8 for students/children. All performances are at Middle School South, located at 435 W. Five students will perform at Illinois Music Educators Association (IMEA) District 7 Junior Honors Band & Honors Orchestra.
Congratulations to the following five Lake Zurich Middle School-North music students for being accepted into the Illinois Music Educators Association (IMEA) District 7 Junior Honors Band & Honors Orchestra. The following students will represent Lake Zurich Middle School North: 8th Grade Francesca Castro - violin 7th Grade Brennan Groble – viola Kyle Grenier - trombone 6th Grade William Gilbert – violin Mathew Maliekal – double bass Over 700 students auditioned for the IMEA junior band and orchestra from middle schools in Lake, Cook, and McHenry Counties. Students were selected based on their preparation of the audition music. Students will be performing in the IMEA Junior Honors Festival on Saturday, November 3 at Wauconda High School. …
