Coaches Gear Up For 2013 On March 20th and 21st, over 60 Lake Zurich Flames coaches gathered for 2 nights of informative meetings at the Old Firehouse to kick off the 2013 season. The Flames Coaching Committee discussed topics including player's safety, coaching expectations for the upcoming season, and the recent move to the new league. Football registration now open; Flames add board members
The Lake Zurich Flames Football program has moved to a new league, Northwest Youth Football League NWYFL (www.NWYFL.org). “We made the move after a long off season process of reviewing our current league affiliation and researching and interviewing the other options in the area. The current board felt this was the best fit for our players and families at the current time,” said Keith Mescha, Flames board member. “We are looking forward to some new competition and a fresh experience for everyone. Two Lake Zurich Flames youth football teams will play in the championship games Saturday.
The Lake Zurich Flames Mac 10 Middleweight and the Pac 10 Featherweight Pac 10 Orange teams will play in the Youth Superbowl Championship on Saturday. The Featherweights will play an away game at 10 a.m. in McHenry. The Middleweights will play a home game at 5:30 p.m. in Lake Zurich. Three boys will also go to The Chicago Youth Football League Punt Pass and Kick Championsip on Sunday at Carmel High School. They are JOsh Dyer, Austin Krause, and Joey Little. Six teams will compete in the second round of playoffs this weekend.
Lake Zurich Flames youth football is helping to cultivate a tradition of winning in Lake Zurich. The Flames have teams from each of the five age/weight groups that have advanced to round 2 of a 3 round playoff format. "It is great to be a part of the football powerhouse that Lake Zurich has become in the state of IL," said Flames board member Keith Mescha. "As we prepare for the playoffs, due to our close ties with the high school football program, we have had some of the varsity players stop by and help motivate the boys with a few words of encouragement at practice. The Lake Zurich Flames Football and Cheer season is starting early this year! The season is so big this year we had to start it off in March. The start of the season begins with the roll-out of our new look on the field. We have changed the football game jersey with the help of our parents and board. Online registration is open. Coaching applications are available online. Enhancements have been made to the way we do business and it is our intent to entice and excite all families to help us get the job done.
