Ela Township Board Salutes Flames Bantam Orange Team

Team is tenth TCYFL team to take home the championship.

The Ela Township Board had some special visitors at its November 16 meeting.  The Flames Bantam Orange team was invited to Ela Town Hall to be recognized for winning their championship in The Chicagoland Youth Football League (TCYFL) Pac 10.  "Come on up boys and good job on your win," Lucy Prouty, township supervisor, said.  The Flames extinguished the hopes of a championship win for the Elgin Bears on Saturday Nov. 13 by a score of 14-7.  The victory distinguishes Bantam Orange as one of only three teams in league history to finish with a perfect season, with a 12-0 record. Flames Playoffs Wrap Up This Weekend

Three teams vie for championship Saturday and Sunday at Carmel Catholic High School.

Heading into the third and final weekend of playoffs, there are three Lake Zurich Flames teams that are competing for a championship: Featherweight White Pac 10, Bantam Orange Wilson Pac 10 and Northeast Bantam Big 10. Bantam Orange Pac 10 is 11-0 this season, including their two playoff wins. Last Saturday, they eked out a 19-13 win over Buffalo Grove and the week before they defeated Woodstock 26-6.  "Buffalo Grove has been our toughest opponent," said coach Wil Juarez. " "We opened the season beating them in a tight game, and last week we had our closest game of the season." The Bantam Orange team has scored 258 points this season, while giving up a stingy 57. New Trustee to Join Ela Township Board

LIghtning detection equipment to be considered for Knox Park.

Jack Reck will be sworn in as a new trustee at the 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 14, Ela Ela Township Board of Trustees meeting at the Ela Town Hall. Installation of lightning detection equipment at Knox Park also will be considered by the board. And the board is to review a pest control contract for the township The board also is expected to proclaim the week of October 24-30 as Red Ribbon Week throughout the Township. Lake Zurich Flames Youth Football Season Heats Up

Teams hit their stride as season moves into week five.

For most children and parents, the first sign of autumn is the beginning of the school year, but for those involved in Lake Zurich's Flames Youth Football program, it comes much earlier; equipment handout is mid-July and the first practices are held in early August, which helps make the dog days of summer go by a little more quickly. Practices are held Monday through Friday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. for almost the entire month of August, in theory late enough in the day to avoid some of the  afternoon heat. However, this year, with one of the hottest summers on record, temperatures consistently hovered in the mid to upper 80s. Heavyweight Big 10 Posts First Win of Season

Flames Youth Football Team Defeats Crystal Lake 18-14.

The Lake Zurich Flames Heavyweight Big10 team won 18-14 against Crystal Lake on Saturday, Sept. 11, for their first win of the season. In the first quarter, Flames outside linebacker Ben Klett made an interception and ran it back 40 yards for a touchdown. Two plays later, free safety Tyler Gray made another interception that led to a 19-yard touchdown run by running back Zane Lodico. In the second half, Lake Zurich's defense was led by middle-linebacker Tommy Clancy who made a key fumble recovery on Lake Zurich's three-yard line, as well as making an interception late in the fourth quarter.
