Lake Zurich welcomes the second in state LZHS Bears home with a parade, and an assembly in their honor.
The Lake Zurich Bears may have come home second in state, but they still number one in the minds and hearts of the community. Jacob Brinlee set an IHSA rushing record in the 7A championship game on Saturday as well. The families, friends, and fans of the team welcomed them home with a parade, and an assembly in their honor. The pride of Lake Zurich was abundantly clear as the crowd gave them and Coach Bryan Stortz a standing ovation as the entered the gym. "Second in State, but first in our hearts," was how Kim Kolze, Lake Zurich High School principal put it, and the people of Lake Zurich, couldn't agree more.
