More than 100 people came out to show their support at a Sunday assembly for the cheerleading team.
The latest champions at Lake Zurich High School (LZHS), the first place varsity cheerleading squad, received a warm welcome home from the state championships on Sunday at an assembly at the school. The varsity cheerleaders placed first in the Large Squad division in the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Competitive Cheerleading Competition held in Bloomington-Normal over the weekend. Varsity Bears finish first in the large squad division.
The Lake Zurich High School Varsity cheerleading squad placed first in the Large Squad division in the Competitive Cheerleading Competition held in Bloomington-Normal this weekend, according to the Illinois High School Association (IHSA). A recognition ceremony for the cheerleaders will be held at noon, Sunday, Feb. 6, at the Lake Zurich High School Fieldhouse, according to Community Unit School District 95. To see the squad's preliminary round performance at the competition go to www.ihsa.tv/events/8825. The Bears squad finished with a score of 93.96 with no deductions. Hoffman Estates was second with a score of 93.74, followed by New Lenox in third with a score of 93.38 and Orland Park fourth with a 93.26 score, according to the IHSA.
