Lake Zurich's Indian Princesses Dance at Expo

Indian Princesses dance for the camera.

Lake Zurich area residents came to the Lake Zurich Area Chamber of Commerce Expo last week to learn about non-profit organizations and local businesses. Lake Zurich area girls and dads from the Algonquin Longhouse Indian Princesses and Guides were among the local groups. The girls enjoyed dancing both traditional Indian dances and to Gangnam style song.  Check back for more photos and videos of the Expo on Lake Zurich Patch.    Editor's note: An error was corrected as the Gangnam style song was referred to as the Harlem Shake.

St. Pat’s Celebrations Start Soon Near Lake Zurich

Nearby towns plan big events for St. Patrick's Day.

Looking to celebrate the Irish?   Barrington’s Celtic fest runs Friday through Sunday in downtown Barrington by McGonigal’s Pub.   Downtown Wauconda starts with a Shamrock the Block tonight and festivities continue through Sunday.   Palatine’s Paint the Town Green starts with a parade on Saturday.   The Lake Zurich Expo is on Saturday and has a St. Pat's Day theme.    Please be careful. Don’t drink and drive. Lake Zurich police will be out in force for the weekend.

Did you attend the EXPO?

The Lake Zurich Area Chamber of Commerce's 2012 EXPO can be summed up in one word: Awesome! This was my first year participating in the EXPO. My trusty sidekick (and ad manager) Lisa Labuda and I arrived early to set up our booth, which, of course, had a lot of green because that's the Patch color. We even had a game where visitors could spin a wheel and win a prize — including Patch water bottles and tote bags. It was great to see the steady — and enthusiastic — stream of people who showed up as soon as the doors opened at 10 a.m. The flow of visitors didn't slow until about 3:30 p.m. I really enjoyed meeting so many of you …

EXPO to Showcase Local Businesses, Organizations

The EXPO will be held tomorrow at Lake Zurich High School.

In Dale Perrin's opinion, the Lake Zurich Area Chamber of Commerce's annual EXPO is a great way to support local businesses. "By supporting local businesses, you help support the tax base in our community and you keep people employed," said Perrin, executive director of the chamber. "Both of these are of great benefit to the community. A strong tax base helps to keep the roads safe and in good condition. Employed residents are able to pay their utility bills, property taxes, and purchase merchandise and services from other local businesses, helping to continue the cycle." Residents will be able to learn about 100 local businesses and community organizations at this year's EXPO, slated from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 17. The event is…
