Astronomy Club provides telescopes for moon viewing tonight.
The Lake County Astronomical Society (LCAS) will provide powerful telescopes to view images of the moon (weather permitting) on Monday, May 20, from 7-9 p.m. in front of the Ela Area Public Library. Check out any astronomy items from the Library and receive a free Star Reader bookmark from LCAS from Monday, May 13- May 20. No registration is required. For more information call 847/438-3433.

Orientation meeting to be held May 22.
Teens entering grades 8 and up in the fall … are you looking for a volunteer opportunity this summer? Join Ela Area Public Library’s Ela Teen Volunteers. Plan to attend the summer volunteering orientation meeting at the library on Wednesday, May 22 from 7-8 p.m. or Thursday, June 6 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Teens who volunteered last summer do not need to attend an orientation meeting. Registration is limited to Ela Area Public Library cardholders and students in District 95 schools. The library will be closed for staff training.
The Ela Area Public Library will close on Friday, Feb. 22, for staff training. The Library will re-open at 9 a.m. on Saturday, February 23. Even when closed, the Ela Area Public Library continues to provide news, information and online resources 24 hours a day, seven days a week via its website www.eapl.org. Visit online any time to access general library information and link to community information, the online collection catalog and numerous online databases. Regular Library hours are 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. Mondays - Thursdays; 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. Fridays and 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Saturdays and noon-5 p.m. on Sundays.
Ela Area Public Library is asking residents to complete a community survey.
Residents of the Ela Area Public Library District have the opportunity to complete a community survey about Library services through March 8, 2013. Ela Library’s 2013 Community Survey was mailed to every household in the Library’s service area in early February. Even if you are not a Library user, residents are encouraged to respond. The Library is in the process of gathering views about Library usage, new and current services and other concerns that may deserve special emphasis in the future. Surveys should be returned using the enclosed postage paid return envelope. Responses are confidential. If you’ve misplaced your survey or never received one, please visit the Library’s Information Desk or call (847) 438-3433.

Introduction to Voice-over for Kids and Adults Windy City Voice talents Kathy Poelker and David Lecinski will present two workshops on the voice-over industry on Saturday, Jan. 26 at the Ela Area Public Library. Kids in grades 3-7 will have the opportunity to practice a script, make appropriate vocal choices, rehearse with other voices and get “on mic” to record during the “Kids on Mic!” workshop from 10 a.m.-noon. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and the child must read fluently with a little practice. Class is limited to 20 children. Ela Area Public Library’s annual Preschool Information Night for parents and teachers will be held at the Library on Wednesday, Jan. 16 from 6:30-8 p.m. The open house format of the evening allows parents to visit and talk with directors and teachers from various preschools and daycares serving the Lake Zurich area.
