Deer Park Claims Kildeer Police Damages of $1.6 Million

Lawsuit claims Kildeer did not not perform police services paid for by Deer Park.

  Deer Park is claiming that the village paid at least $1.1 million and possibly in excess of $1.6 million for police services to Kildeer that were not performed, according to Trustee of Public Safety for Deer Park, Jim Denny.  The damages’ figure is based on recent testimony from expert witnesses, said Denny.  Deer Park’s lawsuit against Kildeer for breach of contract and fraud was first filed in Lake County Circuit Court in March of 2012; Deer Park terminated its contract for police service in November of 2011 and switched to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. Kildeer Village Administrator Michael Talbett could not comment on the specific allegations, but said, “The village strenuously denies the claims by Deer Park and we are defending …

Deer Park Basement Fire Quickly Extinguished

Lake Zurich Fire Rescue responded to fire on Sumac Court this morning.

A basement fire in Deer Park, this morning, was extinguished within 10 minutes of firefighter's arrival on the scene, however the home had significant smoke damage, according to David Pilgard, of Lake Zurich Fire Rescue. Lake Zurich responded to 21452 Sumac Court in Deer Park, at 9:06 a.m., after homeowners smelled smoke. When firefighters arrived on the scene, the first-due officer reported visible smoke from the first floor front door with all occupants and animals accounted for, according to the news release from Lake Zurich Fire Rescue. Upon entering the lower level, the fire officer reported that a sectional couch was on fire. DEA Drug Take Back This Saturday in Deer Park

Drug collection events aim to combat prescription drug abuse.

  The Lake County Sheriff’s Office will be participating once again in the National Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Prescription Drug Take Back event on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012.  The Sheriff’s Office will be conducting events at the Beach Park Village Hall, 11270 W. Wadsworth Road, Beach Park as well as the Deer Park Village Hall, 23680 W. Deer Park Avalon Celebrates 11th Anniversary

Classic cars, a braiding contest, beer and wild birds were featured.

    Avalon, an Aveda salon in Deer Park, celebrated its 11th anniversary with special savings, free prizes, treats from Red Robin, beer from Deer Park UPS Store and a display from Barnswallow’s” Linda Breur, who brought a red tail hawk and peregrine falcons. Muddy Paws Site Goes Down

Deer Park boarding/rescue facility where 34 dead dogs were discovered gets demolished.

The Muddy Paws building, where Diane Eldrup is suspected to have starved 34 dogs to death, is going down. A demolition crew, M. Rizzi & Son, arrived this morning to begin the process of erasing the former dog rescue and boarding facility from the Deer Park landscape. "This is where my beautiful Lucha lived, suffered and died," said Janice Robinson, a foster parent of one of the dogs who died at Muddy Paws. Robinson said she was brought to tears upon hearing of the demolition. Pete Rizzi, of M. Rizzi & Son, said the company was contracted by the bank to demolish the building. Remains of 15 More Dogs Found at Muddy Paws Site in Deer Park

Prosecutor’s motion to discover source of $25,000 bail posted for Diane Eldrup denied at hearing.

The remains of 15 more dead dogs were found at the Muddy Paws site in Deer Park, Assistant State's Attorney Michael Mermel announced in court today. That brings the total to 34 dogs and three birds suspected of being starved to death at the former rescue/boarding facility. “The animals were so deteriorated. They were really just little piles of fur,” Mermel said. At the April 11 hearing, Mermel said he wouldn't file additional charges against Diane Eldrup, owner of Muddy Paws. Eldrup is charged with 19 counts of aggravated cruelty and 19 counts of animal torture.
