Barrington Metra Fares Increase: What Will Tickets Cost You?

The price of the 10-ride ticket is no longer discounted.

  Metra riders are no longer getting a discount for purchasing a 10-ride fare. The Metra Board of Directors voted last month to change the cost of the once discounted 10-ride pass to be equivalent to the price of 10 one-way fares, instead of nine. The change was made to help fund capital improvement projects, the Pioneer Press reports. The policy went into effect Feb 1.  Barrington commuters will now pay $62.50 for a 10-ride pass, or $6.25 for a one-way ticket. Monthly passes are $178 and weekend tickets are $7. Ten-ride tickets purchased between Nov. 17 and Jan. 31 are valid through Feb. 28.  What do you think about the Metra fare increase? Will you take Metra less?

What do we think? What can we think? We can't do anything but bend over and accept! The trains continue to run later and later, can barely make it to Chicago on mornings that are bitterly cold (really, Metra? Really?), and if you truly have a question or need help, good luck finding a conductor available to give you more than a shrug and a "move on." IDOT Recommends Travel Midwest Commuter App

Travel Midwest app available for iPhone, Android.

Travelers in the greater Chicago metro area can find assistance in planning their commute with the Travel Midwest app. The app was first introduced in the fall of 2012. The Illinois Department of Transportation is encouraging Chicago area muncipalities to publicize the app, according to Lake Zurich Village President Suzanne Branding. The Lake Zurich village website has featured the app on its home page.  Travel Midwest is the official iPhone/Android app of the popular travelmidwest.com travel website. It provides a traffic map that extends from Milwaukee to the Quad Cities to southwestern Michigan. Map layers include Travel Times, Expressway Congestion, Arterial Congestion, Expressway Construction, Arterial Construction, and Incidents. …
