Caribou Coffee closing underperforming stores.
The Long Grove Caribou Coffee, which just opened in December, is one of the Caribou Coffee shops which will remain open and convert to a Peet's, according a store employee. The Minneapolis-based chain was taken private in a $340 million deal with Joh. A. Benkiser, a German investment company, this year, according to the Chicago Tribune. The Barrington Caribou Coffee, which just opened last summer as a kiosk at Jewel-Osco, will close this Sunday, April 14, at noon, according to a store employee.
