A car burglar smashed the windows of vehicles parked on the 200 block of Rosehall Drive in Concord Village in Lake Zurich’s most recent rash of car burglaries. According to the Lake Zurich police blotter, the incidents occurred overnight on Nov. 20 and four cars were burglarized. One car was unlocked and the offender took a wallet with an estimated loss of $75. The other three vehicles were locked so the offender(s) smashed the side windows. The total estimated loss for all three vehicles was more than $3,000, which includes damage to the vehicles. The burglars took a laptop, as well as credit cards. Police received a dozen reports of car burglaries throughout Lake Zurich over the weekend.
Lake Zurich police received at least 12 reports of car burglaries and trespass and another 10 reports of damaged mailboxes over the weekend. Commander David Bradstreet said police are investigating the crimes. “We don’t know if they are related; we don’t know if it’s Halloween mischief or an organized crew,” he said. Bradstreet said police are developing leads on the series of crimes. While the car burglaries occurred throughout Lake Zurich, the damaged mailboxes were confined to the Countryside West subdivision. “The car burglaries were in Cedar Creek, Prairie, practically every neighborhood,” Bradstreet said. Two residents, 17 and 18, were charged with felonies for car burglaries that occurred in Countryside West subdivision in the overnight hours, June 29.
Andrew A. Dalton, 17, of 118 West Harbor Dr., Lake Zurich, and Steven Medina, 18, of 490 Trailside Dr., Lake Zurich were arrested on July 13 and July 14, in connection with five car burglaries that occurred on June 29. Dalton and Medina were each charged with five felony counts for burglary, according to Commander Kevin Finlon, of the Lake Zurich Police Department. Items taken included GPS units, an iPod, miscellaneous cables for electronics and cigarettes. All burglaries occurred in the Countryside West subdivision, which is west of Rte. 12 and south of Cuba Road. Finlon said the suspects were seen in the area on the night of the occurrences.
