Alpine Fest runs from July 20-22 at Lions Park. Here is a schedule of events: Friday 6 p.m. Park opens 6:30 p.m Fire Department water fights 7-11:30 p. m. Hot Rocks performs in the Entertainment Tent, $5 admission Saturday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Community Blood Drive at American Legion Hall, 51 Lions Drive 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Lake County Fire Chief’s Safety Trailer for kids 11 a.m. Local businesses water fights 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Ela Area Historical Society celebrates 100 years of P, LZ & W Railroad with display. 12 p.m. Park opens 1-4:30 Matinee all-you-can-ride passes $16 with Lions Club coupon. 2- 4 p.m. Dan and Jenny Trio in front of Ela Historical Society 3-5 p.m. The Fine Smokables in the Entertainment Tent 6-8 p.m. Alex and the Allstars…

Next year I hope they do the Fire Dept Water Fights on Saturday. People, like me, who live an hour away cannot attend on a Friday night.   more ›
Annual Lake Zurich event features musical entertainment, carnival rides, water fights, the biggest parade in Lake County and more.
Lake Zurich’s Alpine Fest is almost here and set-up has already begun. This year marks the 70th year since the first Alpine Fest, celebrated in 1942, to mark the victories of World War II. The community celebration was started by the Lake Zurich volunteer fire department and the Lake Zurich Lions Club sold pop and beer. In 1944 the Lions Club took over the event, said Footloose Frank, longtime organizer of the event. New this year is the water fights, which the community hasn’t seen since 1983. Fire departments from the area will fight each other on Friday at 6:30 p.m, and on Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m, local businesses will have water fights. The Alpine Festival looks bigger and better than ever! I started dating my first husband, Fred Swichtenberg, at the Alpine Festival carnival in 1963! A big change - I don't recognize any of the people or names any more! I have been in AZ for 34 years - I don't see a Jaycee unit, or Auxiliary of Good Shepherd Hospital booth!
