St. Matthew Lutheran Church
847-438-7709
St. Matthew Lutheran Church of the Missouri Lutheran Synod is a large stone church on a large, neatly landscaped lot. Founded in 1863, the original congregation of 23 members built a church where they worshipped until it burned down in 1942. Vowing to stick together, the congregation rebuilt a new chapel that remains at the location to this day. Today, St. Matthew Lutheran Church boasts a huge 2000 member congregation. Alongside the church is St. Matthew Lutheran School as well as the church cemetery.
