Local Teens Donate Teddy Bears to Fire Department

The project was coordinated by St. Francis de Sales Parish confirmation students.

Teenagers from St. Francis de Sales Church delivered dozens of teddy bears to the Lake Zurich Fire Department on Monday morning.

Under the leadership of Aleyce Baca, Michelle Sterbenz and Nancy Elmore, the teens raised $600 to buy the teddy bears, which will be given to children during crises like fires or accidents.

Baca said for their confirmation project, 30 teens baked cookies, wrapped them and then held a bake sale at their church.

On Monday, many of the teenagers — all students at Lake Zurich and Carmel High schools — delivered the teddy bears to Lake Zurich Fire Station No. 1.

Those teens included:

All of the teens are 10th-graders except for Davey Hass, who is in 11th grade.
