Every two weeks, the program will narrow down the nominations, and enable the public to choose the winner by voting for the featured finalists. The hero, and the person who nominated him or her, will receive a one-week loan of an all-new Chevrolet, Buick, GMC or Cadillac vehicle and a full tank of gas.

“Heroes come in many forms, and Maria certainly embodies the selflessness and dedication that have made an impact," said Brian Goebel, General Motors North Central Region Communications Manager. “We know Maria’s friends, family and neighbors would agree, and we’re thrilled to share her story with the rest of Illinois.”

Voting will end today. The winner will be announced Sept. 29. To vote for Milik, head to DrivingTheMidwest.com.
