Lake Zurich High School Cheerleaders Are Best In State

Varsity Bears finish first in the large squad division.

The Lake Zurich High School Varsity cheerleading squad placed first in the Large Squad division in the Competitive Cheerleading Competition held in Bloomington-Normal this weekend, according to the Illinois High School Association (IHSA).

A recognition ceremony for the cheerleaders will be held at noon, Sunday, Feb. 6, at the Lake Zurich High School Fieldhouse, according to Community Unit School District 95. To see the squad's preliminary round performance at the competition go to www.ihsa.tv/events/8825.

The Bears squad finished with a score of 93.96 with no deductions. Hoffman Estates was second with a score of 93.74, followed by New Lenox in third with a score of 93.38 and Orland Park fourth with a 93.26 score, according to the IHSA.
