Registration for summer programs at Northern Lake YMCA opens up to the general public on Monday, May 21. It’s the community’s opportunity to sign up for springtime activities that encourage the Y’s four core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility at the Northern Lake Y, 2000 Western Ave., Waukegan as well as at Central Lake YMCA in Vernon Hills.

Summer programs beginning June 4 include fitness classes for kids and adults, swimming lessons and activities for all ages, martial arts, CPR and first aid instruction, and “Club Y” for youth ages 7 and up.

Be sure to sign up by May 29 to avoid higher late-registration fees for some classes.

Meanwhile, registration continues for Lake County Family YMCA’s summer youth camps that begin June 11 at both its Waukegan and Vernon Hills facilities. From swimming to craft projects and outdoor education, ACA-accredited Y Day Camps offer a variety of fun and educational activities under the supervision of counsellors certified in first aid, CPR and AED. Campers will build self-confidence, discover new skills, develop a respect for the outdoors and make new friends. They are divided into two age groups: grades K-4 and grades 5-8.

There’s also a preschool summer camp experience available for kids 3 to 5 years old at the Vernon Hills Y only.  These young campers will participate in games, songs, crafts, and several field activities in addition to swimming one day each week.

Registration for all age groups can be done on either a weekly or an all-summer basis. Camps dates cover the period June 11 through Aug. 24. Space is limited, so parents should register their children early. Members of the Y receive discounted rates.

For more information, see the online program guides at www.ymcalakecounty.org. or visit the Welcome Center at Northern Lake YMCA.

Wow, this story really shows how selfish some people are now. The person who complained to theRead More police better hope he/she never needs any help or compassion from anyone or any organization. They don't deserve it. You were trying to have a great event and some hater couldn't put earplugs in their ears for one night of their life if they didn't like the noise. So sad. Way to go for your efforts though! Bob
