College Football Recruitment Night at GCHS

Grayslake Central and Lemont High Schools will provide an opportunity for college coaches to discuss their incoming senior class with coaching staffs from colleges and universities throughout the midwest.

High school and college football coaches are invited to attend the College Football Recruitment Nights next month.

(GCHS) will be hosting its second annual College Football Recruitment Night on Wednesday, May 2 and Lemont High School will be hosting its 9th annual College Football Recruitment Night on Thursday, May 3.

The Football Recruitment Night provides an opportunity for college coaches to discuss the recruitment class of 2013 with the north and south suburban high school football coaches. Grayslake is the location for schools in the north suburbs, and Lemont is the location for schools in the south suburbs.

"Last year, GCHS had 15 or so high schools and roughly 40 to 45 colleges/universities attend the annual recruitment night," said Grayslake Central Head Football Coach Nick Goshe. Lemont High School had approximately 20 high schools and roughly 50 colleges/universities participating.

"The importance of this night is completely kid based," Goshe said. "So much so in my opinion that a school not attending is an absolute travesty against the community they coach in. It is a chance for coaches to gather and talk about the student-athletes we have that potentially could play at
the next level."

Goshe said it is all about helping high school athletes play at the next level.

"It is a chance to create networks that better enable us to get kids into college," he said. "Finally, it is a chance to talk football and improve as
professionals for the betterment of our teams. All together this night is
a great win-win situation for all parties involved...kids, coaches, and
community."

The coaches-only event at Grayslake Central and Lemont High Schools drew coaches last year from nearly all of the Division III schools in Illinois, as well as many from Wisconsin, Iowa, Indiana and Ohio.

High schools in Lake and McHenry Counties sent in information on their players.

"Grayslake North, Grayslake Central, Crystal Lake Central, Libertyville, Round Lake, Mundelein, Antioch, Cary Grove and Vernon Hills were among the high schools that sent in their player information last year," Goshe said.

"This is the first opportunity for the colleges and universities to gather information on the soon-to-be-senior class," Goshe said. "There is a separate event in Libertyville that is the 'culminating' event for the senior class just after their seasons are completed. To help with a reduction of travel, Grayslake Central and Lemont have partnered up to host a North side night and a South side night on consecutive days."

Each high school football coach is asked to bring 100 copies of a list of players graduating in 2013. The information will include academic and physical information such as height, weight, position, GPA, SAT and/or ACT scores, class rank, 40 yard dash speed, strength measurements and/or statistics from last year. See the attached sample sheet.

The fee for college coaches is $20 per coach; there is no cost for high school coaches. The event begins at 6 p.m. with food and refreshment provided by Grayslake Central and Lemont High Schools.
