Coach Proffitt Supports Flames '100 Percent'

LZHS Bears' coach says he's concerned about friction in the community and friction between boys.

Lake Zurich High School Coach Dave Proffitt says he's concerned that the friction between parents that led to will filter down to the children.

"I don't think anything good can come out of this. I hate to see this happen in Lake Zurich," Proffitt said. He said he's concerned boys from two different leagues will come into high school feeling animosity towards each other.

"I support the Lake Zurich Flames 100 percent. I do think another program starting up is not a good idea because I believe there will be some friction within the community," he said.

Proffitt said he supports the Flames because they have done a good job of providing youth football for the community.

"They've done everything these programs should do," Proffitt said. "What league they want to belong to is up to them."

Proffitt said he doesn't think the level of youth football the boys participate in makes a difference at the high school level.

He reiterated that what is important is that the boys are coached well, that safety is a priority, and that the boys are having fun.

Proffitt said he has no quarrel with the coaches who are starting a new youth football league, the Lake Zurich Bears, however he wishes that the the two sides would unify.

"I would like to see them unify, but it probably won't happen. I don't have any control over this situation, nor should I," Proffitt said.
