Matt Blanchard, a Lake Zurich
High School graduate, got to show off his skills in the Chicago Bears preseason
game Thursday against the San Diego Chargers until he suffered an injury.
Blanchard was called into the game replacing quarterback Josh McCown in the third quarter before an injury to his hand forced him out. He left the game to get an X-ray, which showed he has a fractured knuckle.
The 2006 LZHS graduate joined the Chicago Bears in 2012 as an undrafted free agent. He did not see any play last year, but he’s been performing well in training camp and two preseason games this year.
Should the Bears wait for Blanchard to heal? Or is it a bad idea to go into the season with two quarterbacks? Share your thoughts in the comment section.
