St. Francis de Sales School Celebrating Catholic Schools Week

Many events are planned this week.

 — and Catholic schools across the nation — are celebrating Catholic Schools Week and its "Faith. Academics. Service" theme.

"It's the time that all Catholic schools unite at one time," said Principal Roy Rash. He added that Catholic Schools Week allows schools to showcase themselves and "let the community know what we're about."

St. Francis de Sales has a number of events planned throughout the week.

Today: Teacher Appreciation Day.

Feb. 1: The school will hold a Catholic Schools Week Mass, which will feature an alumni speaker. The Mass will include a blessing of babies born since last year's Catholic Schools Week. Rash added that a VIP reception will be held after the Mass.

Feb. 2: Student Appreciation Day. A scholastic bowl competition will be held at 8:24 a.m. The school's parent-teacher organization will treat students to popsicles at lunch. Rash added that the National Honor Society induction ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. Additionally, students won't have homework or tests on this day.

Feb. 3: The school will hold a variety show at 7 p.m.
