School District 95 Board and Teachers Adopt New Contract

The new contract includes a 2 percent yearly increase in salary expenditures.

 

 

The and Lake Zurich Education Association (LZEA) are pleased to announce the successful negotiation, ratification, and adoption of a three year teachers’ contract, effective August 30th, 2012.

The Lake Zurich Education Association ratified the terms of the new contract on Wednesday, May 23rd. With 90 percent of the membership voting, 342 of the 405 members (84 percent ) voted in favor of the new agreement. The District 95 Board of Education then voted to adopt the new contract unanimously (6-0) at the regular Board meeting on Thursday, May 24.

“The goals of this contract were to work cooperatively and collaboratively to come up with a responsible agreement, and I believe we have done that. It was a very positive experience,” said LZEA President Kathy Perkins.

Dr. Mike Egan, superintendent, agreed. “This was a very positive experience and I appreciate the hard work on both sides of the table." School Board President Kathy Brown noted how fortunate to have settled in such a positive manner compared to the very different experiences of some other districts.

The new contract calls for an overall 2% yearly increase in salary expenditures.
