Penny Wars This Week at Middle School North

Middle School North PTO launch Penny Wars to provide new winter coats for children.

A war of the grades is about to break out at Middle School North, all for a good cause. The Penny Wars will help raise funds for new winter coats for children.

The Connect Committee of the Middle School North PTO will be holding Penny Wars this week, beginning Wednesday, September 18 through Friday, September 20.

During lunch, each grade will have the opportunity to contribute to the collection. The proceeds of the penny wars will go towards reaching  the goal of providing new winter coats for children in the community.

Coats are being provided through Operation Warm in partnership with Joanie’s Closet, a District 95 service organization, and The Chapel-Lake Zurich. Each year Operation Warm provides new winter coats to hundreds of thousands of under-resourced children across the country.

High quality, new coats from Operation Warm will be purchased for children in the Lake Zurich and surrounding communities for less  than $20 per coat. The Connect Committee and community partners would like to provide 500 local area children from families in need with the gift of a new coat. Some coats will be distributed through District 95 schools in conjunction with Joanie’s Closet, others will be distributed at The Chapel's November 9 Mobile Food Pantry.
