The board of education for approved the hiring of Ms. Sandra Kennedy as the new principal for at the Feb. 23 board meeting.
Ms. Kennedy is currently the Assistant Principal at Round Lake School District 116. She previously worked for Lake Villa District School District 41 as a fifth grade teacher. Ms. Kennedy holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education and a Master of Arts degree in Educational Leadership and Development from Northeastern Illinois University.
Superintendent Mike Egan states, "Sandy’s knowledge and experience in the areas of literacy instruction, RtI, school improvement planning, professional learning communities, and using data to make informed decisions that are in the best interests of students were evident throughout the interview process."
Ms. Kennedy will start with the district on July 1.
