New Board Member Selected in District 95

Scott McConnell will fill the remainder of the term of former Board Member Kathleen Wallis.

During a special meeting on Wednesday night, March 21, the Board of Education selected Lake Zurich resident Scott McConnell to fill the remainder of the term of Board Member Kathleen Wallis, who resigned in February.

McConnell was sworn in at the board’s regular meeting on Thursday, March 22, and will serve at least until the seat comes up for election in April, 2013. The board selected McConnell after interviewing five candidates, two of whom had also applied for the vacancy left by John Kropf’s resignation in December of last year.

"Once again, the board deeply appreciates the commitment that our community members have to the children of our district. We had a well-qualified group of candidates, and it was difficult to make a final decision. Scott's business background and his global thought-process will make him a great addition to the Board, and we look forward to having him join us,” said Board of Education President Kathy Brown.

McConnell, who works for Allstate Insurance Company in Northbrook, has a strong management and technology background.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve the community and I look forward to the experience,” said McConnell.

Wow, this story really shows how selfish some people are now. The person who complained to theRead More police better hope he/she never needs any help or compassion from anyone or any organization. They don't deserve it. You were trying to have a great event and some hater couldn't put earplugs in their ears for one night of their life if they didn't like the noise. So sad. Way to go for your efforts though! Bob
