Middle School South Students Succeed at Solo & Ensemble Contest

Students receive superior medals and perfect scores at Illinois Grade School Music Association's District 8 Solo & Ensemble Contest.

Lake Zurich Middle School South band, orchestra, and chorus students and Isaac Fox Elementary orchestra students attended the Illinois Grade School Music Association’s District 8 Solo & Ensemble Contest held at Deer Path Middle School in Lake Forest,  on Saturday, Feb. 9. With over 1,000 events scheduled, students from sixteen schools performed their solos, duets, trios, and ensembles for nineteen guest adjudicators.

Middle School South music students received a total of 143 gold “superior” medals while eight events received a 2nd place “excellent” rating. Twenty events received perfect scores on their performance.

6th grade students receiving perfect scores include: Jack Frommelt, Nathan Kim, Jessica Kroczak, Annie Li, Kirsten Mazurkiewicz, Mark Meny, Teah Mirabelli, Olivia Rieff, Bartosz Wielgos, Kaitlyn Yau.

7th grade students receiving perfect scores include: Matthijs Enters, Sean Ginn, Ethan Hepler, Nathan Holbrook, Will Madsen, Nick Miller, Jack Sanborn, Matt Schwartz, Connor Trebac.

8th grade students receiving perfect scores include: Juan Ahumada, Brianna Brodeur, Hannah Dinse, Sophia Gonzales, Chris Keramidas, Aidra Kosiorek, David Liu, Chase McKellar, Allie Mitchell, Stephen Mueller, Shane Nolan, Carmen Ramierez, Camerin Stanley.

Many congratulations to the fine musicians from MSS who worked so hard to prepare for the Solo & Ensemble Contest, and who are testaments to the many years of success of District 95 music programs.

Congratulations also go out to Elementary South Orchestra student, Ethan Blankenship, who earned a perfect score.
