Why are you running?

During my 15 months on the Board of Education, the SEL plan and Technology one-on-one initiative have been started.  These are two new initiatives that are important to district and I would like to be a part of seeing them through to completion.  I have seen that my perspective adds value to the Board discussion and would like to continue to bring that to the table.

In what ways would the school district benefit from your service?

My financial and project management skills as well as my active volunteerism throughout the school district enables me to understand the workings of the district and evaluate plans and projects brought before the Board.

What is the biggest challenge the school district faces and what should be done to address it?

The biggest challenge the school district faces is the effective roll out of the one-on- one technology initiative.  Effective communication with all stakeholders, teachers, parents and students, is needed to ensure the complete understanding of not only what we are doing but how and why we are implementing this technology roll out.

What do you think the district does well?

The district truly lives its mission statement to inspire our student to be passionate, continuous learners and to prepare them to be responsible, caring citizens in the global community.  All areas of the district take this mission to heart when making decisions.

What should be some of the school district’s priorities over the next four years?

The district’s priorities need to include continuing to live within our means when budgeting,  completion of the SEL plan, completion of the one-on-one technology initiative and completion of implementation of the common core into all areas of curriculum.

What else would you like voters to know?

The only hesitation I had in applying to be considered for the appointed seat was an uncertainty if I could continue to make a difference in this new role.  I see that I have been able to make a positive difference and would appreciate the opportunity to continue to do so for another four years.
