Lake Zurich Bears to Face Defending State Champions on Saturday

LZHS Bears football won 17-6 against Rockton Hononegah

Lake Zurich High School Bears will return to their home field next Saturday for a quarterfinal match against Rockford Boylan, the 2011 state champions.

The Lake Zurich High School Bears and fans traveled to Rockton over the weekend for a Class 7A playoff game against the Hononegah and came out victorious with a score of 17-6. See game story in the Daily Herald.

The Quarterback Club’s John Schnecker says it will be revenge time for the Bears. The Rockford Boylan Titans defeated LZHS in last year’s IHSA Class 7A State Semifinal Game (16-10) which was held in Rockford on Nov.19.

Rockford Boylan currently has a 39 game winning streak. They won the IHSA Class 6A State Championship in 2010 and IHSA Class 7A State Championship in 2011.

Game time for Saturday is tentatively scheduled for 1 p.m.

Another great game to build team spirit and character of our future generation to teach the values of competition, cooperation, loyalty, and good sportsmanship that can and MUST carry over to adult life especially in politics!!! (I say with good intentions and a humorous but hopeful attitude.)
