Lake Zurich Area Students on University of Kansas Honor Roll

Students from Lake Zurich, Hawthorn Woods and Kildeer are honorees.

More than 4,450 undergraduate students at the University of Kansas earned honor roll distinction for the fall 2012 semester. The students, from KU's Lawrence campus and the schools of Allied Health and Nursing in Kansas City, Kan., represent 97 of 105 Kansas counties, 41 other states and 39 other countries.

The honor roll comprises undergraduates who meet requirements in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and in the schools of allied health; architecture, design and planning; business; education; engineering; journalism; music; nursing; pharmacy; and social welfare.

Darek Kriho, of Hawthorn Woods. He is the son of Jerome and Grace Kriho of Hawthorn Woods. He attended Adlai E Stevenson High School. Kriho is a sophomore at KU and was named to the honor roll for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Matthew Swaback, of Kildeer. He is the son of Cynthia and Raymond Swaback of Kildeer. He attended Adlai E Stevenson High School. Swaback is a senior at KU and was named to the honor roll for the School of Engineering.

Amanda Tokarev, of Kildeer. She is the daughter of Anna Suarez of Kildeer. She attended Lake Zurichh Senior High School. Tokarev is a freshman at KU and was named to the honor roll for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Rebecca Smith, of Lake Zurich. She is the daugher of Donna and David Smith of Lake Zurich. She attended Lake Zurich Senior High School. Smith is a senior at KU and was named to the honor roll for the School of Music.

Honor roll criteria vary among the university's academic units. Some schools honor the top 10 percent of students enrolled, some establish a minimum grade-point average, and others raise the minimum GPA for each year students are in school. Students must complete a minimum number of credit hours to be considered for the honor roll.
