District 95’s List of Summer Projects

It’s a busy summer at Lake Zurich Community Unit School District 95 schools. The school district has a list of summer projects that students will notice come the first day of school.

The district is working on the following projects, as listed on its website:

Asbestos abatement

• Materials, like carpeting and floor tiles, containing asbestos will be removed from four classrooms at May Whitney Elementary School

Heating, cooling

• Replace the Building Automation System (BAS) and controls at Middle School South and Isaac  Fox will be replaced.
• Replace deteriorated flue stacks at Middle School North and Spencer Loomis.

General construction/security

• Create secure vestibules at Isaac Fox Elementary, Middle School South and Seth Paine.
• Add a door to Middle School North to secure the first and second floor “B” wing.
• Replace a set of doors in the Tonelli hallway at the High School.
• Revere swing of a set of doors at Isaac Fox to improve egress flow.
• Repair an exterior set of doors (#6) leading out of the cafeteria at Isaac Fox.
• Replace a set of doors and repair doorframes (#24) to Early Childhood at May Whitney.

Roofing

• Replace insulated metal wall panels around the upper perimeter of the Main Gym of the High School.
• Replace a large section of roof over the “C” Wing at the High School.
• Roof inspection and maintenance program at each district facility.

Pavement and concrete

• Replace large sections of sidewalk from May Whitney to the High School.
• Reseal and restripe three parking lots at the High School.
• Rebuild Circle Drive at Middle School North and Spencer Loomis.
• Replace deteriorated concrete at loading dock of Middle School South.
• Replace walkways on the north side of Sarah Adams.

Lockers

• Replace “skinny” student lockers at the High School and provide students with individual padlocks for their lockers.
• Replace lockers in hallways 100 and 200 of Seth Paine.
• Remove lockers and install new cubbies for the Little Leaders program at May Whitney.

Painting

• Public areas such as hallways and bathrooms in each school are being freshened through painting or “washing” the walls. This is an on-going annual process.

Bathrooms

• Renovate the men’s and women’s restrooms off the cafeteria with new partitions, porcelain, sinks and tile at the High School.

Electronic card access

• Provide new electronic card access systems at May Whitney, Isaac Fox and Middle School South. With the completion of this project all schools will have the same electronic card access system.
