D95 Hires New Principal for May Whitney

Christopher Martelli to lead school.

 

The board of education for Lake Zurich Community Unit School District 95 approved the hiring of Christopher Martelli as the new principal for May Whitney Elementary School, at its April 25 meeting.

Martelli is currently assistant principal at the John Conyers Learning Academy, a therapeutic day school setting. Prior to that, Martelli served as principal at Albert Einstein Elementary School in Hanover Park; as principal at Frederick Nerge Elementary School in Roselle, and as principal at Hunting Ridge Elementary School in Palatine.

Martelli holds a bachelor of arts degree in elementary education from the University of Iowa, a master of science degree in education from Loyola University, and is currently working on his doctor of education degree in educational administration at the University of Illinois – Champaign. 

“Throughout the interview process Chris Martelli exhibited a solid understanding of curriculum and instruction and a passion to facilitate learning for all students. Chris was clearly the favorite of the interview committees and impressed me in our one on one conversation,” states Superintendent Mike Egan.

Martelli will start with the district on July 1st.
