CLC Board Names New Chairman

Amanda Howland of Lake Zurich named board secretary.

The College of Lake County Board of Trustees conducted its annual reorganization at the board’s April 17 meeting, selecting Richard A. Anderson of Grayslake to serve as chairman, and outgoing chairman William M. Griffin, Ed.D. of Lake Forest to serve as vice chairman. Trustee Amanda Howland of Lake Zurich was selected to serve as board secretary.

Anderson was first elected to the CLC board of trustees in 1974, while attending the college as a full-time student. He has served on the board continuously since then and previously served several times as chairman. He is an attorney with law offices in Grayslake.

Griffin was first elected to the CLC board of trustees in 1995. In addition to his term as chairman in 2011-2012, he also has served as chairman several times. In his professional life, he is a tenured faculty member and business department coordinator at Triton College in River Grove.

Trustee Amanda Howland was elected to the board in 2009. A former elementary school assistant principal and principal, she currently is an attorney.

Student Trustee Seated

Theresa Westberg, of Antioch, was seated as the student trustee for 2012-2013, succeeding Nathan Wegbreit, of Wadsworth.

Westberg is a 2011 graduate of Antioch Community High School who is pursuing an associate degree in pre-physical therapy. She currently holds a 4.0 grade point average and is active in Phi Theta Kappa, the community college scholastic honorary society. She was recently elected as the co-vice president of membership for the organization.

Wegbreit has been accepted by Georgetown University for the Fall 2013 semester. His immediate plan is to participate in a service project in Guatemala before enrolling at Georgetown.
