Check Out Original Fashion for Charity at LZHS Tonight

The Lake Zurich High School Fashion Club will host a fashion show to benefit the Epilepsy Foundation as part of Charity Bash.

Tonight's fashion show for charity will showcase how creative teens can turn used clothing into stylish designs. Katie Turner, a senior at Lake Zurich High School and co-founder of the Fashion Club, also works at Saver's part time. Saver's donated some of its donated clothing and five students with sewing machines turned them into new outfits.

The fashion show is tonight, March 14, at 7 p.m., at the Lake Zurich High School Performing Arts Center. The donation at the door is $5 and all proceeds go to the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago. The fashion show is part of LZHS's annual Charity Bash.

"It's been a lot of fun to rework the clothing and make a fashion show," said Katie, who is hoping to pursue the fashion business as a career.

Other LZHS designers include: Patrick Broderick, senior; Erin Leahy, junior; Paige Savarese, freshman; and Emily McRae, freshman.

"Most of our designers do things like this all the time! Some of us have Etsy shops where we sell some of the things we make. We will also be selling some merchandise after the fashion show out in the lobby," Katie said. "With everything we sell, the proceeds go to the Epilepsy Foundation and if anyone is interested in checking out our Etsy shops, we will have our information at the selling table after the show."

Katie said Savers is a partner with the Epilepsy Foundation.

"We can only help so long, but when people donate to savers, for every donation Savers pays the Epilepsy Foundation," she said.
