Oakview Pet Resort of Wauconda went before the  on Monday for a courtesy review, during which owners Mike and Maureen Inman expressed their desire to expand their operations to 805 W. Main St., where Stark Realty was located.

The reason the Inmans are considering growing their 30-year-old business relates to what the majority of their customers are asking.

“Around 75 percent of our current clients come from Lake Zurich and Hawthorn Woods. When we surveyed them to find out what we could do to improve our service, they wanted us closer to where they live,” said Maureen Inman.

Courtesy reviews are held for businesses hoping to locate in Lake Zurich, and serve as a compass for future approval from the Village Board.

The board gave its informal approval for the business to go before the Lake Zurich Plan Commission.

Since the business is seeking a zoning amendment for a special use of the building, the Plan Commission must give its thumbs-up before it can come back to the Village Board for final approval.

The potential business location backs up to The Orchards and Mossley Hill subdivisions.

Trustees asked that the business owners contact neighbors from both subdivisions to make them aware of their desire to move there.

The date for the business to go before the Plan Commission has not yet been set.
