Village Board Considers Cost of Liquor License for Catering Businesses

One local catering business owner thinks the $1,000 liquor license, which is the same as it is for restaurants and bars that serve only beer and wine in Lake Zurich, is too much, according to the Daily Herald.

Lake Zurich village board members moved away from a recommendation by the village's police chief to increase the catering business liquor license to $1,000 after hearing from a local business owner during a meeting Monday, according to the Daily Herald.

Kathy Pedersen, of On Occassion Catering and Events on Tesler Road in Lake Zurich, suggested the license be around $100 and said alcohol sales from catering businesses was not comparable to that of restaurants and bars, according to the article.

The village board is expected to vote on the amendment during its Sept. 16 meeting, according to the Daily Herald.
