Three Lake Zurich Trustees Won’t Run for Re-election
Thirteen candidates file for village seats in April election
Dec. 26 was the last day to file for the April 9 election. Three current trustees whose seats are up are not running for re-election, Jonathon Sprawka, Rich Sustich and Terry Mastandrea.

Mastandrea was appointed in September 2011to fill the term of Mark Ernst who left for a job out of state.
Trustee Rich Sustich said he decided not to seek re-election for family and personal reasons. (Check back on Lake Zurich Patch for a full interview with Sustich).

A slate of candidates as well as independents filed for village office for the April election. Three candidates are running for village president-incumbent Suzanne Branding, Trustee Tom Poynton and Mary Black.
The United Lake Zurich Party will run as a slate and includes:
Suzanne Branding, Village President, 4 years
Kathleen Johnson, Village Clerk, 4 years
Helmut Gerlach, Trustee 4 years
Todd Minden, Trustee 4 years
Ildiko Schultz, Trustee 4 years
Debra Vander Weit, Trustee unexpired 2 years
Independents who are running include:
Tom Poynton, Independent, Village President, 4 years
Jeffrey Halen, Independent, Trustee 4 years
Geoffrey Petzel, Independent, Trustee 4 years
Daniel Stanovich, Independent, Trustee 4 years
Mark Loewes, Independent, Trustee unexpired 2 years
Mary Black, Independent, Village President, 4 years
Jim Beaudoin, Independent, Trustee - 4 years
