Staff Prepares Plan to Hire Downtown Redevelopment, TIF Consulting Services

Report outlines deadlines, nine possible firms to do the work.

A report recommending the process of hiring a qualified firm by April 4 to handle downtown redevelopment and TIF consulting services is expected to be presented by Village Administrator Bob Vitas at  7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 22, Village Board meeting. The board usually meets on Monday, but has been changed due to Presidents' Day.

A list of nine qualified firms and agencies from the Illinois Tax Increment Finance Association and Illinois Chapter of the American Planning Association websites, according to a Feb. 17, memo in the board packet prepared by Dan Peterson , director of building and zoning. Firms from the list that are interested in the project are to submit their qualifications to the village by noon, Friday, March 11, if the village board accepts the plan.

Further, an evaluation committee of no more than six members to review the submissions is being recommended by Peterson.  That committee should be comprised of  Mayor Suzanne Branding; Vijay Gadde planning manager; Al Zochowski, finance director; Vitas; Roy Withertow, assistant village adminstrator; and Peterson.

In other business, the board is scheduled to:

• Review the revised 2012 budget calendar prepared by Vitas.

• Consider an ordinance to issue general obligation refunding bonds not to exceed $1.25 million.

• Award a bid for the Route 12 forecemain replacement project.

• Consider a special use permit for the Lake Property Owners Association to hold a Lake Zurich Area Triathlon on Saturday and Sunday, July 9 and 10.

• Consider a special use permit for the Alpine Runners to hold the Alpine Races on Sunday, Sept. 25

• Consider a special use permit for the Alternating Hemiplegia of Childhood Foundation to hold a Walk-A-Thon on Sunday, Sept. 18.

• Award a bid for the Sunday, July 3 fireworks display from four vendors who submitted proposals ranging from $15,000 to $20,000 to provide the display.
