Special Meeting to Consider Paulus Park Improvements, Downtown Redevelopment

The Lake Zurich village board will hold a special meeting, June 25, to hear from potential downtown developers and to consider a major renovation for Paulus Park.

was originally scheduled to go before the Lake Zurich village board on June 18, however, the item was tabled from the agenda and moved to a special meeting on June 25, according to Park Director Mike Perkins.

The park and recreation advisory board is hoping to convince the Lake Zurich Village Board that the  improvement plan is a win-win situation. Advisory board members say the price of the overhaul could drop down to just about $200,000, with a grant and other funding.

The Village Board needs to approve the plan before the park board can apply for an Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development Program grant, which could fund 50 percent of the cost.

Also on Monday night, June 25, the village board will hear proposals from two of four potential downtown developers. The other two proposals are expected to come before the board in July.
