The overnight snowfall has left roads slick and forced some businesses, schools and libraries to open late or close for the day.
The Ela Area Public Library is closed Thursday due to heavy snowfall and bad road conditions, according to the library's website. The library plans to reopen at 9 a.m. on Friday and residents can check the library's website for updates.
All three campuses at Harper College in Palatine are closed today, according to the Emergency Closing Center website. And while students are still on break at within nearby Barrington School District 220, all of the district's buildings are closed Thursday to employees and all co-corricular events and athletic practices are cancelled until further notice, according to the District 220 website.
