Antiquated with an overblown budget complete with large pensions. Time to let this branch go.

At least Lance Armstrong got his $33 million sponsorship deal out the USPS before the wheels came off. Wonder if they feel they got their money's worth? What business does a non-competitive quasi-government agency like the USPS have spending money on sponsorships? Other than a sign out in front of the post office building, I don't see justification for any marketing budget at all.

Great point, I totally forgot about that sponsorship!

They should sell their facilities and routes to UPS and FedEx. At least they would get something back. The USPS is the VHS of parcel delivery.
Sandra Sims January 29, 2013 at 06:04 PM
Right, once the PO is gone, UPS and Fed Ex can charge anything they like. Have fun paying 3.50 to send a check to your dentist, or $50 to send a care package to your kid in college. The USPS takes no tax dollars, and would not be raising rates or having problems if the Republiscum, under Bush, hadn't passed a law that required them to fund 75 years of pension payments in 10 years. It was designed to put them out of business, as it was an insane thing to do. Typical Repukes.

Well, Sandra, did a Progressive Leftist Communist ever have a bad idea? Or is name-calling going to solve all our problems?
McCloud January 29, 2013 at 08:39 PM
I see you fell for that liberal propaganda circulating about no tax dollars, total BS from liberal snakes who deceive for Obama.
Sully January 29, 2013 at 09:01 PM
Sorry Mac.Once a dupe, always a dupe. So how's President Romney doing?
Sandra Sims January 29, 2013 at 11:46 PM
Oh dear, Jack, I'm soooo sorry. How dare a "liberal snake, progressive leftist communist" like me call charming people such as yourself names? Halfwit.
RB January 29, 2013 at 11:47 PM
"Liberal snakes"? Vicky used that term the other day while advocating Murder charges for 14 year old rape victims. Is that a new term that Rush is using or maybe Ann Coulter? I've not been called that until recently. I doubt Mac and Miss Vicky came up with that independently.
Sandra Sims January 29, 2013 at 11:50 PM
McClown, the USPS does receive taxpayer $, for the purposes of providing postage free mailing to the blind, for mail in ballots, and for its help in providing info to child support agencies. Not sure about the blind thing, but the others make sense. They do NOT recieve tax $ for operating costs. Why don't you EVER just do some simple research before you shoot off your big mouth? You embarrass yourself daily.
McCloud January 29, 2013 at 11:52 PM
I know how it works, proof that you are wrong, and I get the incredible source routine. Anyway, here you go: http://newsbusters.org/blogs/jack-coleman/2012/04/19/doh-dem-congressman-undermines-ed-schultzs-claim-postal-service-receiv

Sandra...Great observations and comment. Sully...your query about Romney had me tearing up in laughter. Jack...you don't know jack. McClown...aaahhh forget it...addressing your comments is a exercise in futility.
Sandra Sims January 30, 2013 at 01:45 AM
Seriously, McClown? Your "source" is a right wing blog? How......scholarly of you. Again, you embarrass yourself. I'm glad I'm not related to you, I would be mortified.
McCloud January 30, 2013 at 01:53 AM
Liberal snake.

How did the tea party get into this, Walter?
Just Sayin January 30, 2013 at 03:24 AM
Sandra...I keep telling him he is an embarrassment ...but the clown just doesn't get it.
Vicky Kujawa January 30, 2013 at 05:37 AM
The USPS does get some taxpayer support. Around $96 million is budgeted annually by Congress for the "Postal Service Fund." These funds are used to compensate USPS for postage-free mailing for all legally blind persons and for mail-in election ballots sent from US citizens living overseas. A portion of the funds also pays USPS for providing address information to state and local child support enforcement agencies.
Vicky Kujawa January 30, 2013 at 05:39 AM
Sandra, the information in the link that McCloud posted basically states the same thing that you did about USPS funding, but if you had bothered to read it you would have known that.
Vicky Kujawa January 30, 2013 at 05:49 AM
@RB.......I never used the term 'Liberal Snakes'.
Vicky Kujawa January 30, 2013 at 05:52 AM
.....nor did I "advocate murder charges for 14 year old rape victims". Seriously, are you hallucinating.....?
Vicky Kujawa January 30, 2013 at 05:54 AM
Please, people; do the adults in the room a favor and leave the name-calling on the playground.
Sully January 30, 2013 at 11:12 AM
I guess that would mean you as well, Vicky.
Vicky Kujawa January 30, 2013 at 12:20 PM

Actually, it doesn't. It only increases the deficit. If they charged the same first-class rate for every piece they handle, instead of giving junk-mail the low low rates, they could probably reduce the prices and still stay in the black. As usual, corporations are pulling all the strings.
